If you look closely at the picture, the back of the Snuzzler - the part that goes behind baby’s back & head is very thin. The sides are really what support the baby, much like rolling up blankets and placing beside baby in the car seat. Of course they have to say not to use things in the car seat, to protect themselves from lawsuits! However, I never had a problem as this product is so well designed, and does not interfere with the car seat straps. The car seat straps tighten up to the proper level with no problem.
